User Guide

Different kinds of calorimeters are provided at Instruct to characterize proteins thermodynamically:

  • A Capillary Differential Scanning Calorimeter (CapDSC) is available for determination of the stability, folding and interaction with ligands of investigated proteins. This is of particular relevance for membrane proteins, as their stability is largely depending on the detergent and buffer conditions. For high throughput the instrument is equipped with an autosampler.
  • An Isothermal Titration Calorimeter (ITC) can be used to quantify the binding of ligands relevant in the case of work with e.g. receptors and transporter.
  • Finally Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF) is a quick method to determine the melting temperature of a protein. It requires only a small sample amount compared to other calorimetric methods and uses fluorimetric readout.
