Instruct signing ceremony

Instruct began its Operational Phase with the signing of an Accession Agreement between the existing Participant Instruct Members and the Coordination Company, Instruct Academic Services Limited, at a ceremony held in Brussels on 23rd February 2012.

Instruct has brought together an unparalleled consortium of major structural biology Centres in Europe, representing all major infrastructure technologies that enable structure determination from macromolecular to atomic resolution of proteins, protein complexes and single particles. Access to all of these technologies is now available to European member researchers.

The representatives of the member states who signed the Accession document on behalf of their country, region or institutional consortium are listed below:

For the Czech Republic: Ondrej Hradil (Masaryk University)

For France: Jean Claude Michalski (Deputy Scientific Director, CNRS) and Gilles Bloch (Director of Life Sciences, CEA)

For Germany: Wolfgang Baumeister (Head of Molecular Structural Biology, MPIB)

For Israel: Haim Garty (Vice President of the Weizmann Institute)

For Italy: Marco Masi (Director General for Research, Regione Toscana)

For The Netherlands Tanja Kulkens (NWO)

For Portugal: Paulo Pereira (Vice-President of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia)

For United Kingdom: Mark Palmer (Head of International Strategy, Medical Research Council)

For EMBL: Stephen Cusack (Head of the EMBL-Grenoble Outstation)

For Instruct Academic Services Limited: Dave Stuart (Director of Instruct)

The signatures were be witnessed by Robert-Jan Smits, Director-General for Research and Innovation, European Commission.
