Postdoctoral Research Fellow in HIV-host Interactions

University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 29 May 2019

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in HIV-host Interactions to join a Wellcome funded project in Professor Peijun Zhang group based in the Division of Structural Biology at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.

The project is focused on defining the molecular mechanism by which host factors act on the function of capsid and viral infectivity, by carrying out structural and functional studies of HIV-1 capsid and host factor complexes using cyroEM methods, including cryoEM single particle/helical, electron tomography and cryo-FIB/SEM, combined with mutagenesis and functional assays.

You will manage the project day-to-day, including both design and action of strategies in molecular biology, protein expression and purification, structural studies using cryoEM and other appropriate methods. You will use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment and will act as a source of information and advice to other group members and will act in a co-supervisory role towards graduate students within the research programme. You will carry out collaborative projects with partner research groups and contribute to the preparation of scientific results and the overall development of the programme.
